4.0 out of 5 stars Great tablet, May 8, 2011
This review is from: Acer Iconia Tab A500-10S16u 10.1-Inch Tablet Computer (Aluminum Metallic) (Personal Computers)
I'm typing this review on the A500 now. I was deciding between an Ipad2 (and had actually purchased one), an Asus Transformer, and the A500. I became frustrated with the limitations of the Ipad 2, and once it became clear that the Asus Tranformer wouldn't have adequate stock for weeks, I decided to give the A500 a try. No regrets, and I ended up returning the Ipad2.

Why this is better than an I pad 2 -
- Micro SD card slot gives this all the memory you practically need with just a 16 gb model. Cards are cheap - you can get a 32 gb card for $50. No card slot on the I pad 2.
- USB port makes file transferring easy. You can plug in external flash drives or a USB keyboard. Yes, it has a USB host port so it can externally power or charge devices through the port. No USB on the I pad 2 without buying a $30 adapter.
-HDMI port - easy projection to your HDTV. The A500 screen has about the same aspect ratio as most HDTVs, so you will be able to take full advantage of... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good tablet, with some issues that will probably be fixed soon, May 9, 2011
This review is from: Acer Iconia Tab A500-10S16u 10.1-Inch Tablet Computer (Aluminum Metallic) (Personal Computers)
UPDATE - 6/27/11 -
I did get a software update a while back for the A500, and it did fix the screen waking up, this made it so that the battery will now last for a couple of days of light use before it runs out, compared to being plugged in everyday like it was before when the screen would wake up for notifications.

I haven't really noticed any other large changes from the previous version. On the other hand, I did see that a leaked version of the 3.1 upgrade is out on the web today, so we should be getting that upgrade soon, and it sounds like a lot of enhancements are in that update.

One other thing of note, is that I picked up a wireless usb keyboard for use with the A500, and it worked fine for me, but my wife was trying to use it with blogger and she said she was having problems with it. Seems like it couldn't quite keep up with her typing. It doesn't seem to be the keyboard but the A500 that was the limiting factor, because I used the keyboard on a... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Why so much angst about buying an Iconia Tablet?, July 14, 2011
By
R. Mcmillen (Plano, TX United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Acer Iconia Tab A500-10S16u 10.1-Inch Tablet Computer (Aluminum Metallic) (Personal Computers)
So I've been on the sidelines agonizing about which Android tablet to buy.

Every blog and magazine is filled with lots of negatives about each tablet they review. After reading all of the negative vibe I was paranoid about buying an Android tablet so I decided to wait.

Then the unexpected happened. My wife bought me the Iconia for Father's Day and surprised me. I was stuck.

Reality has set in now and it's great.

I've never had Honeycomb crash on me. I surf the web, get my gmail, get my Outlook mail, IM, buy apps, play games, check the weather, read books and it's a blast.
The screen quality is great and I love the motion backgrounds. Wireless speed is fine, 32GB is plenty, and I'm glad to have the USB port for future options. Execution speed is fast and everything I care about runs without issues plus battery life is multiple days.

So after two months I'm scratching my head to find a negative... Power cord too short... Read more

Toshiba Vs Dell Vs Hp Laptops

Toshiba, Dell and Hp are some of the best brands in the world when it comes to laptops. They offer great value for your money and exquisite carrying out to boot. Here is a quick comparison in several categories in the middle of these three laptop giants.

Price: In this category, Hp and Dell are neck in neck in competitiveness. Although both brands offer great value for your money, Dell seems to be a exiguous economy in its allinclusive price. Toshiba is a exiguous more costly than these two brands probably due to its allinclusive R&D. Among these three brands, Dell laptops are the cheapest where they also offer a high level of customization.

Acer Tablet

Durability: As someone who has used all three brands before, Toshiba is the clear winner in this category. There is something about Toshiba laptops that not only makes it last beyond doubt long but also last long flawlessly. My oldest Toshiba machine is about 6 years old and I don't remember the last time I have ever had the need to send it back to the service center. Among these three brands Hp would come in second while Dell is in a close third (from my years of collecting buyer feedback).

Toshiba Vs Dell Vs Hp Laptops

Features & Performance:Hp is the winner of this category. Probably due to the fact that Hp tries to generate entertainment-centric laptops, their machines sometimes comes with an extraordinarily amount of bells and whistles. Toshiba comes in second where it strives to offer the latest needful features in its laptop. What Dell laptops lack in extra features is made up by their amazing buyer service. Dell is known for providing one of the best services around.

Overall:All these three laptop brands have strengths that will cater for many niches of the market. Consumers who are finding for a laptop that would last for long time with solid carrying out should look no additional than a Toshiba laptop. Those who are on a allocation and appreciate good service should get Dell laptop. Those who love a feature-filled and well-priced laptop should reconsider a Hp machine.

What Size Flat Screen Tv to select For a specialist Bedroom?

Flat screen Tv's make great models for bedroom viewing as they do not take up much space and are able to be mounted to at the proper height for optimum viewing angle.  The ask that consumers need to ask is - what size is big sufficient for my bedroom Tv?  Also, which model is better for bedroom viewing, a Lcd or Plasma model?

The thorough view has been that for low light viewing a Plasma model is excellent to Lcd and typically you would be viewing a bedroom Tv at night, any way both technologies are enduringly being improved as the competition is fierce to dominate the flat screen Tv market.  It's always best if you can read an onine recap or visit a store where you can collate separate models.

How To Choose Tablet

The size that you'll want to purchase depends on your room size and how far away from the Tv you'll be viewing.  For Hd viewing you can be as close as 2 times the size of the screen but will typically be 2 and a half to 3 times.  For comfortable thorough definition viewing you'll want to be slightly further away.  For rooms up to 12x12 you can use a 32 inch model, a 37 inch for rooms up to 15 feet square and for larger rooms you'll want to purchase a 42 inch and larger flat screen Tv.

The criteria to judge picture quality separate between night or day viewing.  You'll want to quest for a Tv that is enchanting sufficient for your eyes and has the viewing angle you need for your singular room.  The next thing to look for is how well your Tv can furnish deep and definite black tones as this is one of the most difficult things for a video screen to reproduce.  Finally, if you get very close to the screen look at how sharp the edges are between the reds and the yellows.  These incorporate criteria can help you to find the best model in your singular price range.

Lastly, you need to decide what height to mount a bedroom Tv.  It is ordinarily best to mount it close to the ceiling as this will make it easy to view from both a standing and lying position.  You'll typically be watching it from a standing position as you get dressed in the morning and at night your neck will love you as you're lying in bed and able to view your high mounted Tv.

How to choose in the middle of a Motorola Mc55 and Mc75 Handheld device

I'm often asked for recommendations on movable devices for proof of delivery applications and handheld data collection. If you're seeing at Motorola devices, most population need help choosing in the middle of Mc55, Mc75 and Mc9090 devices.

This article will construe what you should think when choosing movable devices and will feature real-life customer examples for field data capture and proof of delivery applications.

How To Choose Tablet

Before we start with criteria, it is foremost to understand what features you need today as well as in the future. With rugged devices, once you buy the device, you cannot go back and add hardware options like a camera, Gps or Bluetooth. The devices we will discuss are:

  • Mc9090 (Mc909x) - these are the largest and most rugged of the 3 models. They are supported on all carrriers (Verizon, Sprint, At&T and T-Mobile) and have the broadest range of hardware options. These are the most high-priced devices.
  • Mc75 - these are mid-sized devices that Motorola targets for proof of delivery, field data capture and barcode solutions.
  • Mc55 - this is the latest member of the family, has a slightly lower level of rugged organize and size than Mc75's. It is the least expensive.

Questions and Criteria

How to choose in the middle of a Motorola Mc55 and Mc75 Handheld device

You should narrow your hardware choice by asking the following questions.

Do you need cellular data? If so, what cellular carrier do you use and do you know what the data coverage is in your territories?

  • The imagine for this is easy - some territories like the North East are completely owned by a carrier (Verizon). If person wants T-Mobile or At&T coverage, they need to check or think changing carriers.
  • The Mc55 is not currently supported on Verizon, so the choice is in the middle of an Mc75 and Mc9000. All devices maintain Gsm networks (e.g. T-Mobile and At&T).
  • Do you want want expedient to cover international or covering of North America? If so, you will need to only think Gsm.

If you need cellular data, are you going to do anyone that requires 3G/3.5G or faster networking?
  • Most customers don't know the write back to this but the request becomes more clear if you are:
    • Taking pictures - photograph size can be adjusted on the movable device, but a reasonable ability color photograph would be roughly 1Mb or larger.
    • Downloading large files, such as site plans, Msds sheets or merchandising plan-o-grams for proof of delivery apps.

    • The Mc55 is targeted at basic route accounting users. The Mc55 car cradle does not have a built-in serial port. Examples of where this applies are: serial cable connection to the car Gps or Jbus (vehicle diagnostics), fuel delivery meters or external communication devices.
    • The Mc75 and Mc9000 car cradles have a built-in serial port. Their cradle is more high-priced than the Mc55 cradle by roughly 0-200.

    Do you need barcode scanning?
    • All devices maintain barcode scanning. The only decision is whether you need 1D/2D or long-range.
    • 2D scanners can be helpful if you have barcodes that may get dirty or damaged. Examples of this include plant nurseries where 2D barcodes may be easier to read due to dirt on the barcode label.
    • Long range scanners can scan barcodes up to 40' away. Long range scanners are only available on the Mc909x platform. Examples of long range scanning would be scanning the barcode at the top of a storage rack from a forklift.

    Do you need Rfid?
    • If you need Rfid, your only choice is an Mc9090. Note that Rfid enabled devices are significantly more expensive.

Do you have exact ruggedness requirements? Will you be dealing with harsh environments?
    • The Mc9000 is the most rugged device. It has the best drop spec (6' to concrete) and the best Ip (intrusion protection) rating.
    • The Mc75 is plenty rugged and designed for field delivery applications (5' to concrete).
    • The Mc55 is close to, but not as rugged as the Mc75. It is designed for the field but not for harsh environments.
    • Examples of harsher environments would be where you work covering in the rain or dirt - such as oil field services, agriculture or bulk goods delivery such as fuel, lubes, chemicals or fertilizer to tanks outside.

What size keypad do you need? What type of input will the keypad be used for? Do you need a pistol grip?
    • The Mc55 and Mc75 both have similar sized keypads. They are larger than a BlackBerry but the size of the expedient shell is fixed.
    • The Mc9000 comes in a short version (Mc9090S), a long version (Mc9090K) and a gun/pistol grip (Mc9090G). The keypads on Mc9000's are larger than the Mc75 or Mc55. If drivers use gloves (such as fuel delivery) then it would be worth comparing the Mc9000 to the Mc75.
    • If you perform a lot of scanning, you should think a pistol grip, which is only available on the Mc9000.

So which expedient is right for you? The following highlights examples of using each type of device.

Mc9090 - Bulk bleach manufacturer with 8 plants in 5 states. This customer receives bleach in rail cars and then distributes to pool contribute companies, municipal water rehabilitation facilities, paper manufacturers, etc. The bleach is loaded at the plant and the driver starts their day by scanning a barcode label on the truck (tractor), trailer and delivery ticket. They weigh the truck on an market truck scale and wirelessly receive the truck weight to imagine the volume of goods on the truck. The driver makes deliveries to a set of customers and scans the delivery ticket, product, etc and records goods quantities in each tank. The customer signs the expedient for proof of delivery and then prints a receipt on movable Zebra Rw420 printers. When drivers return to the plant, the driver scans and weighs again to imagine remaining volume. Once at the plant, deliveries are sent wirelessly to the goRoam server for processing and export for invoicing.

    • This customer excellent Mc9000's because they needed the most rugged device, a large numeric keypad, a larger battery to power the wifi since they use wifi for roaming throughout the plant to load products, and because they wanted a larger expedient so it was easier for the driver to keep track of it.

Mc75 - HazMat pickup and disposal for large retailers, oil turn shops, car dealers, etc. Across 30 states. These drivers receive routes/stops through cellular communications while on the road. The drivers go to each stop and pickup one or many HazMat containers (waste oil, paint, chemicals, etc.). They place a barcode on the package (by hazmat goods type) and article the contents of each container. This can involve a reasonable estimate of data capture through the touch-screen on the handheld expedient as they have to faultless different movable forms depending on the pickup. Once complete, the customer signs for electronic signature capture/proof of pickup.
    • This customer excellent the Mc75 because they wanted a mid-sized expedient that would be easy for the driver to carry but would be rugged sufficient to be around risky materials and heavier equipment that might bang around or have the expedient dropped. They needed 3G network speeds to facilitate image capture. Gps is done on the car but can also be captured on the handheld.

Mc55 - Door-to-door surveys and canvassing on a large scale. This customer canvasses homeowners and businesses. They faultless field data surveys that may include 300-750 questions, although not all are required to be answered. When a homeowner or enterprise needs a eye completed, the field personnel scan a barcode and take 1 or more high-quality pictures per site. They take a Gps reading and possibly make a drawing on the expedient to show the site. Once complete, the homeowner signs the expedient for proof of delivery/electronic signature capture and a receipt is automatically emailed.
    • This customer evaluated the Mc55 and Mc75, but excellent the Mc55 because it was less expensive. They determined they did not need the ruggedness of the Mc75 or the 3G network speed since the pictures would queue and sync in the background. They wanted the smallest/lightest expedient since the expedient would be carried all day by the field personnel.

Myob - How to Enter inventory

Before entering catalogue it is leading to settle how you wish to have them displayed in your Items List. For example Myob records the items in an alpha-numeric sequence so if you have some products in the same category, you must plan how you wish to description them.

For this example we are going to be a wholesale writing materials store who buys assorted products that we sell to retailers. We have decided that for each of our products we will place three alphabet letters representing the stock and then three numbers running in sequence. So for example, Envelopes would be recorded as Env001, Env002, Env003 and Pens and Pencils Pen001, Pen002, Pen003 etc.

How To Choose Tablet

In the catalogue Command Centre click on Items List and then on New at the lowest of the window. Type in the Item estimate you have chosen hit tab and then enter Name of the item.

Myob - How to Enter inventory

At the lowest of the screen on the left hand sign you will see three check boxes giving you the selection to Buy This Item, Sell This Item and catalogue This Item. You may Buy This Item and use it to make up something distinct that you sell. For example you may be a lawn mower company that buys some parts that make up a fully assembled lawnmower that you sell. Again you may only Sell This Item as in the former example where you used some components to yield the product. I catalogue This Item is when you wish to keep track of your catalogue and accomplish quarterly stock takes.

When you check any of these Item boxes you are then prompted to allocate a code for each one checked. The I Buy This Item is ordinarily a Cost of Sales catalogue starting with the prefix 5-, the I Sell This Item is ordinarily an earnings catalogue starting with the prefix 4- and the I catalogue This Item is a Asset catalogue starting with the prefix 1-.

When you have completed this screen click on the Selling Details tab at the top. Enter the Base Selling Price that you will selling the item for and check that the other details such as Gst Code When Sold, Selling Unit of Measure, estimate of Item per Selling Unit are all literal, or make the requisite adjustments.

You are now able to enter catalogue quantities straight through the Purchases window or the Adjust catalogue window. There is a isolate video on how to enter Purchases so we will look at the Adjust catalogue window. You use this window when you currently have stock on hand which was purchased previously or when you need to make adjustments to your stock levels after a stock take for example.

In the catalogue Command Centre click on Adjust Inventory. You will see a default catalogue Journal Number, the Current Date and the selection to type a small Memo regarding this transaction. Enter the Item estimate that you wish to adjust. Tab over and add the Quantity you have in stock, the Unit Cost you paid for that item and an estimate will automatically appear. You must allocate an catalogue code for this adjustment which affects your Cost of Sales. If you do not already have a Stock Adjustment code you can of course originate one now. Hit enter in the catalogue column - this will take you to your catalogue Codes List. Cost of Sales codes start with a 5- so in Look for: type in 5 and hit tab. Choose what estimate you would like to use and click on New at the lowest of the window. Enter the catalogue Code and catalogue Name. Click Ok and you will return to the Adjust catalogue window where you now can enter the new catalogue Code.

Once you have recorded your adjustment journal, you will now see that your Item will have Buying History on its information Card.
